Essential Services Offered by Our Western Shop
Posted by Jackson's Western Store on Dec 14th 2021
Here at Jackson’s English & Western, we carry over 4,000 pairs of western boots from top brands, including but not limited to Ariat, Twisted X, Justin, and Double H. We’re Michigan’s premier western shop for a reason, and selection constitutes a big part of that.
But the selection is still only part of the reason we’re a western shop you can trust for the long haul. Sure, you can pick up a Stetson hat or a fresh pair of Ariats here, but that’s not all.
We’ll make sure you saunter out the door in style and comfort, and when you need to give your boots some additional TLC or need repair services, we’re here for that too - thanks to these essential services offered by our western shop.
Boot Fitting and Stretching
A well-fitted, broken-in pair of western boots made of premium leather and other materials can offer comfort and support like no other, offering comfort more akin to a pair of slippers than to a pair of boots. But the operative words here are “well-fitted, broken-in.” They don’t wear like that on day one.
While you’ll still need to wear your boots for a while and break them in throughout your daily activities in order to get that ideal fit, buying from a western shop that offers fitting and stretching services will take some of the heavy lifting off your plate.
If you buy your western boots from us, we’ll fit and stretch them to you so you can get the most comfortable fit possible in the shortest amount of time. Stretching services help to soften the leather and alleviate some of the pressure around the ankle, the heel, the toe, and the sides of the foot, making them more comfortable and giving them a custom feel, right out of the gate.
Boot Break-In
There are some aspects of boot break-in that just have to be done “on the job,” and the old-fashioned way to break in boots is simply to wear them and work in them. That, however, is uncomfortable and a painstaking process.
Sure, there are some semi-effective tricks you can follow, such as wearing two pairs of socks to stretch the boots or soaking the boots in water to soften the leather before you wear them. These methods, however, don’t actually break in the boot - they just facilitate the process.
What you can do, however, is get your boots from a well-respected western shop that offers boot break-in services - gratis when you buy a pair of boots from them.
We offer pre-break in services with every pair of western boots we sell to our customers, cutting back on the miles you’ll need to cover to get that custom-like fit and feel.
Boot Repair
Our relationships with our customers don’t end when they walk out the door in a new pair of Ariats. That’s just the beginning.
We know our customers are tough on their boots, as we know you are, and even the best-quality boots, that have received top-tier care and maintenance, will from time to time need a little extra care.
When your stitching starts to fray, when your leather starts to wrinkle, fade or crack, when your soles or your heels start to wear down, that’s when it’s time to come see our professionals for boot repair.
Hard work will do it to a pair of boots, and there are some aspects of boot maintenance that are hard to tackle at home. If your preferred pair of western boots has seen better days and need a resoling or some serious leather care, don’t retire them. Bring them in to see our specialists for boot repair services.
Hat Shaping and Cleaning
Some western hats are made from straw or leather, but the best of the best are made from felted fur and wool. These hats not only require special care and maintenance but proper handling.
Felted fur and wool are tough and can even be waterproof, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be coaxed from their current angles in order to fit your head like a proverbial glove. Perhaps the term should be “fits like a cowboy hat.”
At any rate, we offer complimentary hat shaping services to our customers when they buy a western hat from us, so you can get the same custom-like fit from your hat that you get from your boots. You can even bring your hat back in for a deep clean to bring back its like-new luster.
